End of Spring Break

I was an idiot this spring break. After Scott left for his camping trip I was all out of it. I did no school work at all until Friday. Finally felt like I got something done today. It wasn’t even that difficult. If I had done a little bit every day I’d have gotten way more done, and probably wouldn’t have felt like crap for most of the break.

All I really did was write some bad Spice and Wolf fanficition that the world will never see, draw comics about what I imagined Scott did on his trip (available on facebook), play with my dogs a bit, constantly check my cell phone to see if Scott contacted me… and nothing. I couldn’t even bring myself to play video games.

I think I partially got screwed over because on Thursday I was in work mode, but I hung out with a bunch of my friends after school. Had church on Friday, hung out on Saturday, church on Sunday… totally got me out of work mode. I could not bring myself to touch any of my books. At least I’m back in work mode now and got my top priority things done: lesson plan for tomorrow, assignments for my ed class, potential exam questions, and outline of what I’ll probably be teaching when they observe me this week.  I also have a big ass certification exam on Saturday.

I don’t want to go back, but I’m not dreading it as much I was when I wasn’t in work mode. I just need to get through this so I can get my damn certification, and have the most awesome semester ever next semester.

I’m taking two classes I need for my degree, and hopefully two more math classes for fun/to help prepare me for the masters program/getting a job that’s not teaching.

Start of Spring Break

I am so happy that my spring break is finally here.

So I started it off on Holy Thursday, I was a heathen and went out singing karaoke with my friends instead of going to my church’s potluck dinner/communion service.  I was good on Good Friday, I went to my church’s music service.

On Saturday I went out with Scott since I won’t get to see him for the majority of our break since he’ll be in the woods as part of his wilderness skills class. We visited the high line park on the lower west side.

I think this is supposed to be artwork...

It was pretty cool… although I can’t help but think the trees they planted up there won’t be able to do well in the long run. There was also some weird optical illusion sculpture that I didn’t photograph, I think it would have killed the effect. Then we got hungry and decided to get lobster rolls, at this not-so secret place.

...most delicious food ever

Now I’d be more than happy to share the name of this place, but they already have tons of great reviews… and I think its part of why their prices have gone up on the lobster rolls. If it wasn’t so late in the day we would’ve stopped by the museum afterwards, so we hung out in the park outside instead.

I had no other reason to post this picture besides to show off the awesome sunglasses I got at JC Penny that make me look like Jackie O, especially when I throw on a scarf or kerchief.

I was good again today and went to church. I’d have to say that Easter is my favorite holiday. My church has some of the best music on Easter, it also hasn’t gotten over commercialized like Christmas has. Plus if the resurrection never happened, there’d be no reason to even celebrate the birth.Spring also happens to be my favorite season… I really love the spring. But this year I’ve learned it’s not as amazing if you don’t have a bitch ass winter. Last year’s winter was *insane* we were practically living in a freezer, but then when spring finally came it was such an amazing relief.  I’m still happy it’s spring again, but it doesn’t feel as special.

Anyway, my mom was super awesome and got me a mini box set of a bunch of Beatrix Potter’s books.

I *loved* Peter Rabbit as a small child. I remember seeing the animations of some of her books on Nick Jr. back in the early 90’s. I think I have copies of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny somewhere… but I had no idea there were so many other books. Or that they were first published in 1903.

I’ve read a few, and I love them all. Her illustrations are wonderful and all of the stories are adorable. Animals getting into mischief and then getting into trouble seems to be a common theme. I’m so happy with this, now all I need to do is find the Will Quack Quack books the cartoon of my childhood was based on… and a box set of the cartoon 😀

Happy Easter everyone 😀

Review: 21 Jump Street and Wrath of the Titans

Review: 21 Jump Street

I hadn’t really been to the movies in a while and the other weekend Scott and I decided to see something. We decided on 21 Jump Street because it looked pretty funny and I had seen some of the original TV series.

The movie wasn’t really like the TV series at all. The TV show was more of a stupid teen show that has the ability to suck you in but in the end you still know that it’s stupid… kind of like a lamer version of Law and Order. The movie was stupid funny. It was almost as if it was about the cops from Superbad going undercover in a high school. Basically you have two guys who didn’t get along in high school (one was a nerd, one was a stupid cool kid) but afterwards they end up becoming cops and best friends. After screwing up as normal cops, they’re sent to work undercover, because they still “look young” (no they do not), and investigate drugs. I won’t reveal anymore but it’s super hilarious. It’s possibly one of the stupidest movies I’ve seen and I’d pay to see it again (matinee price anyway).

They even sort of paid tribute to the TV series in their own weird way. You wouldn’t be able to pick up on it if you haven’t watched it, but you’d still find those parts funny. Johnny Depp even made a cameo appearance 😀

awwwwww yeah, young Johnny Depp FTW!

For those of you that don’t know, he was in the original. He also hated being in it. He did crazy stuff like setting his underwear on fire on the set to get them to kick him out before his contract expired he hated it so much. I won’t reveal what exactly Johnny Depp does in the movie, but its completely unexpected.

I’d have to say the only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the excessive use of foul language. But other than that, it was awesome! It was even perfectly set up for a sequel… which I really hope they make.

Review: Wrath of the Titans

I didn’t see this in 3D, but even if I did it still would have sucked. This movie totally sucked. I didn’t think it would be great but I didn’t think it would fail as hard as it did. I cannot fathom how anyone would even be willing to finance this piece of garbage.

I won’t even go into the story because it sucked so hard and was inaccurate. I mean they made Chronos the bad guy, totally ignored that Hades was divided into 3 parts, that Hades wan’t a bad guy… and I’m going to stop now. But the inner Latin student in me was pissed. This movie would be great on Mystery Science Theater 3000 though. The best part of watching the movie was some of the jokes we were cracking during it, what you see in the poster is Perseus clearly using an electric attack on a ground type. Noob.

21 Jump Street is awesome. Go see it. Don’t waste your money on Wrath of the Titans, it sucks. Instead, see 21 Jump Street for a second time.
